This illustration grew out of a very loose approach to the head that I drew and rubbed out about 5 times before it evolved into what you see. Usually I find if the head and face have presence then they set the tone of the image. This pose was very beautiful and was supported by the very clever complementary colors that Matthew Lawrence at Drawing Cabaret Couture had created for the set. The beauty of these fashion drawing sessions is that there has been apainter's eye applied to what we are presented with, so we are not correcting and amending the subject to fit into a satisfactory composition and color way. I don't usually record the fabric in such detail but I felt that I needed to in this instance. Drawing auburn hair is a joy shared by artists across the ages of course highlighted by the Pre Raphealites so I am just following in their illustrious footsteps.

Ella Daviesis a first year womenswear student studying at Central Saint Martins @bafcsm. Her work is highly inspired by inspirational female characters and fantasy. The 4 piece collection was inspired by the designer's visit to the Ross fountain inEdinburgh in Scotland where she saw these stunning Aloja's, women who express fertility and beauty, found within Catalan mythology.
The shapes are extracted from ancient fertility symbols and the fabric is vintage upholstery material to represent the gorgeous detailing of the fountains exterior.
