This painting grew from an abstract figure course at The Newlyn School of Art under the guidance of Rob Unett. We were drawing the model who was wearing a long scarf and a Spanish Flamenco theme dress. I developed the original marks further into an 18 Century theme that reminded me of the Napoleonic era.
